The Graphics Card

The Graphics card is used to process the images in the computer system. The images are basically made up of pixels. The graphical card work on these pixels to display them into a complete image. An image may be build up of thousands or millions of pixels. The graphics card translates that binary information of the CPU into an understandable image to the user. Hence the work of the graphics card is complicated to an extent. Not only 2-D images but the graphics card is also used to produce 3-D images. In order to display an image, first the CPU sends binary information to graphics card, the graphical card makes decision about how the pixels must be used and then it builds the image using the pixels. It also decides the color, lighting, texture of the image. To complete its task efficiently, the graphics card must be connected to the CPU (where it gets the information), to the monitor (where the image is displayed), to the memory (where the image and pixels are stored temporarily) and the motherboard (where the data and power are supplied).
